Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan: Information for Teachers

We currently offer 3 school programs:
1. Little Legislators Scavenger Hunt: 40-60 minutes, Pre-K to Grade 3 - Students will participate in a scavenger hunt for Saskatchewan symbols, and important people and objects in the Legislative Building. They learn about what government does in the building, monarchy connections, treaty maps and Indigenous leaders in Saskatchewan, and more.
2. Let's Get Legislative: 2 hours, Grades 4 to 12 - Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the function of the Legislative Building and of the elected members of the Assembly, and have the opportunity to ask their school’s MLA questions about what they see and learn in the Chamber. The Let's Get Legislative tour is only available when the Assembly is in session. For this program, please refer to the parliamentary calendar to select a date when the Assembly will be sitting.
3. Standard School Tour: 30 minutes, all grades - Our 30-minute tour, tailored to your students’ grade level. Learn the history of the building, government, the Westminster parliamentary tradition, and more.

Pour y arriver, nous travaillons au sein du milieu de l’éducation, pour lequel nous souhaitons être la ressource essentielle pour l'enseignement et l'apprentissage de la poésie au Canada et dans le monde.

MISSION
Nous offrons aux enseignant·e·s des ressources pédagogiques attrayantes et leur proposons des expériences poétiques variées, en français et en anglais, afin d’inspirer leurs élèves à lire, à réciter et à écrire de la poésie :

-des anthologies en ligne de poèmes contemporains et classiques en langues française et anglaise;
-des concours de récitation où plus de 75 000 $ en prix et en voyages sont à gagner chaque année. Les concours pancanadiens se divisent en trois sections : française, bilingue et anglaise;
-le journal étudiant de poésie VOICES/VOIX;
-le programme Vers l'Avenir
-le programme Poètes à l'école/Poet In Class.
-du matériel pédagogique en français et en anglais.

Toutes nos ressources sont gratuites.

Since 2013, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has managed a contract from the Ministry of Education to evaluate learning resources. The Stewart Resources Centre houses most of the resources under review. These resources can be borrowed by patrons once they have been through the evaluation process. Look for the “Borrow from the STF Library” link in the resource records on the Ministry’s curriculum site. The resources below are samplings of the resources from the SRC currently at various stages of the evaluation process related to First Nation and Métis content.

The Literacy Shed is home to a wealth of visual resources that have been curated from YouTube, Vimeo and other sites to meet curricular outcomes in ELA.
The resources can be used in stand alone literacy lessons, can form the basis for a whole Literacy unit or can support literacy units that you already have in place. With the many book based activities using the book alongside the digital resource is recommended.
