This is a listening activity, intended to help students with their listening skills. The activity is a reading of the book "Barnyard Dance" written by Sandra Boynton, read by Heather Phillips, that includes dance like instructions for students to do as they listen.

8th Grade Science teacher Peter Hill from King Middle School in Maine shares a quick strategy tool and strategy he refers to as "word cloud". The "word cloud" is generated by a computer program that takes words from an article and generates a "cloud" with different sizes of words with the size emphasizing the frequency of the word. Mr. Hill uses this as a quick pre-reading activity to increase curiosity and engagement and to have students anticipate what the article or essay is about and what the main idea is. Teachers might also consider a twist to this idea and have student groups create their own word cloud after reading a selected text.11
LIVE (Live Interactive Video Education) Arts Education is a dynamic distance education arts program for students in Grades 1 to 9. The program supports the Saskatchewan Arts Education curriculum and is delivered via the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education LIVE Network (CommunityNet).
Teachers sign up for grade specific programs then professional Artists connect simultaneously with teachers and students in multiple schools across the province of Saskatchewan for a LIVE experience with Arts Education.

This program started out in 2005 as an Artist in the School distance education pilot program hosted by Regina Catholic Schools. Initially the broadcast programming was delivered by Mixed Media Artist in Residence Heather Cline from a special distance education broadcast classroom at St. Peter School in Regina. The program has continued to expand and evolve responding to the needs of Saskatchewan Teachers and the new Saskatchewan Arts Curriculum.
Last year the LIVE Arts program, in partnership with several Saskatchewan School Divisions, broadcast 36 programs featuring Professional Artists in the areas of Visual Arts, Drama, Music and Dance. Each program featured a Guest Artist working with a classroom teacher and their students. Teachers and students participating via distance technology followed along with the help of a guide that outlined the broadcast portion of the program and provided teachers with a follow-up hands-on activity.

This self-reflection tool is designed to ensure that teaching practices are aligned with Structure Literacy. The user is encouraged to note (by checking off the boxes) all areas they are currently putting into practice. The completed reflection can then be used with the principal or the leadership team to set targets for professional learning, professional growth, and/or a plan for Structured Literacy implementation. The goal is to ensure all areas identified are implemented within the classroom. L’Université Dalhousie et l’Ocean Frontier Institute se sont associés avec l’Office national du film pour créer École de l’Océan, une expérience d’apprentissage par enquête gratuite et innovante.
À l’École de l’Océan, les apprenants explorent les habitats des fonds marins du golfe du Saint-Laurent au moyen de la réalité virtuelle. Ils se prennent en photo avec une baleine grandeur nature en réalité augmentée et dissèquent une morue virtuelle. Ils apprennent l’histoire de la morue racontée par un artiste autochtone dans une animation originale. Des vidéos à 360° les transportent dans des endroits qu’ils ne pourraient jamais visiter autrement, comme des forêts de kelp ou une île tropicale située à 550 kilomètres au large de la côte pacifique du Costa Rica.
L’expérience de l’École de l’Océan commence par une grande question posée aux élèves — un défi qui oriente leur enquête. Chaque élément média est accompagné d’une activité personnalisable que les enseignants peuvent attribuer par Google Classroom ou télécharger aux fins d’utilisation en classe. À la fin de chaque module, les apprenants élaborent un plan d’action visant à résoudre les problèmes sociaux et environnementaux auxquels ils ont été sensibilisés.

This is an introductory course to computer science using micro:bits as the physical tool, and MakeCode as the language. The course covers basic computer programming commands like variables and loops. It also incorporates elements of design thinking, making and problem solving to work towards the completion of tasks and activities. The course takes about 4 weeks to complete with regular work, (1 week on lessons and 3 weeks on the final project). It is recommended for grades 6-8.

Kent Treadgold's 7th grade science class uses a hands-on project to learn the abstract concept of density. They measure the mass and volume of different cylinders, create their own computerized spreadsheets for data, and enter the formula to calculate density. By the end of the project, they're able to conclude on their own that density will not change as the shape and size of an object changes, as long as the material it's made of stays the same.
Thinking of students on different pathways to learning can help us better understand Personalized Learning.
Implementing learning pathways can help teachers to "adapt to each student’s learning progress, motivation and goals".
In the example given (and there are many more versions you could use!) Students are on 3 pathways. All pathways get small group instruction!
Pathway 1 - these are the students that are usually ahead. They skip over some things and get into the deeper work.
Pathway 2 - the "core" track for students working at level.
Pathway 3 - these students may have gaps or work more slowly. They don't get MORE work, but work at their level. They will likely get more small group instruction than the other paths.
Formative assessment is used on all pathways to improve instruction and learning.
*students can move between pathways if desired or necessary!

All students learn differently. It is important to understand the thought processes of all students. I wanted to use the class blog to demonstrate my students’ thinking and increase their engagement. I worked with all the different areas of learning styles presented at this PD day. I created different assignments and I had the students put their work on our class blog

This study guide will guide students in discussing and reflecting on the injustices and discrimination that the Indian Act has created for First Nations women. Students will also begin to consider how the injustices have a long-term impact on the lives of Indigenous women and girls. What it means to be an Indigenous person will also be reflected on. After watching this film, students should be able to identify and define Mary Two-Axe Earley as a leader of the Canadian women’s rights movement who challenged Canadian laws that discriminated against First Nations women. A follow-up action includes an activity that describes, illustrates, appreciates and honours Mary Two-Axe Earley’s contribution and legacy.
