The scope of the site is such that subjects such as arts and music, English language arts, and biology are options along with -ology topics that one would expect to find in a site from National Geographic. Nature Companion is a free app and website that provides students with interesting and easy-to-understand information about plants, trees, birds, animals, insects, reptiles, and amphibians found in Canada’s four western provinces.

Each short description includes colourful photographs and a Did you know? section with fun facts about each species. Scroll through the colourful photographs and short descriptions to find out more about nature in your schoolyard or community. The tool is available on or offline and is a great way to connect kids with nature.

Newsela provides high-interest, printable news articles from a wide range of subject areas. Teachers can adjust the reading level of news articles to meet the needs of students. Within each article, power words are identified. Students can click on these and see the definition in student-friendly language. Newsela also provides writing prompts and questions about the articles. You can sign up for free access to the end of the 2019-20 school year. Although the site is American, there are lots of applicable news stories that align with Saskatchewan curricula and context.

North American Association for Outdoor Education offers a rich bank of resources to get students to interact with nature through art and science exploration. There are many cross-curricular activities that can be done in students’ backyards. Some resources include printable material, while others have links to videos and detailed activity guides. While this resource is North American, rather than specific to Canada or Saskatchewan, many of the activities align with Saskatchewan Curriculum.

ROVER (Recommended Online Video Education Resources) is a video streaming service for Saskatchewan teachers and students in the PreK-12 education system. It is managed and maintained by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. ROVER is a video-on-demand service that provides teachers and students with the convenience of immediate access to streamed, educational videos that support curricula.

This site also offers all of the curriculum documents for all grade levels.

If you are unable to access the site, it may be because a Saskatchewan Ministry of Education Blackboard login is required. All students have an Edonline account, so contact your child's school or the Ministry of Education’s Support Desk at 1-866-933-8333 or email at stans@gov.sk.ca for login information. CCMI’s (CENTRAL CARIBBEAN MARINE INSTITUTE) education team has developed a transformational, interactive education programme using Virtual Live Experiences (VLEs) methods to connect students and the public to real-time coral reef activity, in an informal science setting. Scientists use high tech face masks and streaming computer equipment to deliver live lessons from the underwater and lab environment. Innovative technology enables VLEs to reduce barriers to learning by communicating interactive ‘real-life’ experiences in an informal, scalable science setting.

Register to take part in the Reefs Go Live Broadcasts, which include curriculum-relevant lessons and student worksheets (student and teacher versions).

Visit this Saskatchewan based site that offers lots of great lessons/units that focus mainly on integrating Aboriginal science and technology with the provincial science curriculum.

The CCSTU project has produced:
- strategies for teaching and assessing students (illustrated in the materials produced)

- a prototype process for adapting any curriculum material to suit the local culture

This resource includes a downloadable board game that allows students to explore exotic species—how they can impact natural areas and how our actions affect their control and spread.

Prior to playing the game, groups of students are provided with a ‘Backgrounder’ that explains the term exotic and introduces the important issues to consider. Each group develops a concept map based on their discussion that will contribute to a class map.

In playing the game students roll dice and move across the game board toward the Great Lakes. They earn points at various ‘stops’ by correctly answering questions related to invasive species. Game card questions provide information on a range of important aspects related to the introduction, impact and control of exotics. The goal is to collect the most points by the time all players have reached the finish line/square or time expires.

Also check out "Don't Stop for Hitchhikers", a supplementary activity where students simulate a lake ecosystem by taking on the role of its inhabitants. Students assume the identities of both native and non-native species to physically demonstrate what occurs to the habitat and its resources as exotic plants and animals are introduced into the environment. Through the use of props and a written script, students learn the means by which non-native species enter freshwater systems, how they negatively affect the environment and how they can be stopped.
