This is a great project to do later in the year once students have practiced independent research skills. Students are put into groups, and assigned a "big idea" form the power and authority strand to research and present to the class.
This is an activity about solar energy. Learners will first use computers to research and learn how solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. Next, they will calculate the surface area of solar panels board a satellite and their total power generated in various positions of the satellite, given the dimension of the panels. After, learners will organize and write a report summarizing the information about the MMS mission satellites. This activity requires student access to internet accessible computers. Prescription drug abuse is a growing issue, and opioid abuse is now the leading cause of accidental deaths in the U.S. With one in five high school seniors reporting that they have misused prescription drugs, reaching students early is now more important than ever. Prescription Drug Safety is an innovative digital course that arms high school students with the knowledge and tools to make healthy, informed decisions when it comes to prescription medications. Through interactive scenarios and self-guided activities, students learn about a range of topics, including the science of addiction, how to properly use and dispose of prescription drugs, and how to intervene when faced with a situation involving drug misuse.

A Progressive Muscle Relaxation is a great way to relieve anxiety and stress in your body by having you slowly tense up your muscles and then gradually relax them again. This helps us to relax by making us focus on our muscles and how they feel when we relax them from a ‘tensed up state.’ When we practice progressive muscles relaxation regularly, it becomes a valuable tool we can use to help us to relax and calm our body. It will also help us to be able to recognize when our body is experiencing tension and then be able to relax it. The resource includes instructions and how progressive muscle relaxation works.
