Marginal Cost/Benefit Decisions and the Investment Industry Watch video: DRUG SHORT ON NETFLIX in the Dirty Money Series (Series 1)This activity is meant to be used once Marginal Cost, Marginal Benefit and Diminishing Marginal Utility and Investing (short selling) are taught. The movie "Drug Short" is part of the Dirty Money Series 1 on Netflix. Underlying issues in this case are greed, ethics, corporate profit and efforts to maximize shareholder profit at all costs (even human life). This activity looks at the activites of pharmaceutical companies and their efforts to make money, yet disregarding the impact on people who rely on the medicine. Short seller investors "sold the stocks" of drug companies when the prices were high, predicting that there was unethical activities which would eventually bring the share price down. Short sellers make money by expecting share prices to fall, when they identify bad companies or unethical behavior (which is exactly what happened here).

Business Ethics is a derived copy from the Corporate Governance course. It takes an interdisciplinary approach to ethics in business and provides modules in Ethical Leadership, Ethical Decision-Making, Social Responsibility, and Corporate Governance to respond to AACSB accreditation requirements. Students will actively study ethical theory by carrying out exercises to help them build theory-based tools for encountering ethical problems in business practice. They will also work with cases in business ethics designed to give them practice in developing skills of ethical leadership, ethical decision-making, and carrying out socio-technical analyses to respond to issues of social responsibility. Business Ethics culminates in a peer reviewed Ethics Bowl competition in which students will practice ethics advocacy in a variety of moral ecologies in business. Business Ethics has been developed through the NSF-funded project, "Collaborative Development of Ethics Across the Curriculum Resources and Sharing of Best Practices," NSF SES 0551779.

Leslie Dodson's research focuses on the intersection of micro-enterprise and digital technologies in developing communities. She brings more than 25 years of experience and insight from a career as a broadcast journalist to the academic community. Leslie has been posted to Tokyo, London, New York and throughout Latin America, where she covered high-tech and bio-tech for CNBC and MSNBC, and international finance and the global emerging markets for CNN, NHK-Tokyo and Reuters. Along with covering international business, Leslie has reported on environmental issues from the Arctic, India, Nepal, Ecuador, Burundi and Uganda. A quiz, thought provoking question, and links for further study are provided to create a lesson around the 21-minute video. Educators may use the platform to easily "Flip" or create their own lesson for use with their students of any age or level.

In this excerpt, Robert Ross, a 19-year-old Canadian officer during WWI, "faces the horrors of war and makes desperate decisions to protect the soldiers whose lives he holds in his hands."

Students analyze an assortment of popular inventions to determine whom they are intended to benefit, who has access to them, who might be harmed by them, and who is profiting by them. Then they re-imagine the devices in a way that they believe would do more good for humanity. During the first 90-minute class period, they evaluate and discuss designs in small groups and as a class, examining their decision-making criteria. Collectively, they decide upon a definition of "ethical" that they use going forward. During the second period, students apply their new point-of-view to redesign popular inventions (on paper) and persuasively present them to the class, explaining how they meet the class standards for ethical designs. Two PowerPoint® presentations, a worksheet and grading rubric are provided.

TED Studies, created in collaboration with Wiley, are curated video collections 壽� supplemented by rich educational materials 壽� for students, educators and self-guided learners. In Climate Change, speakers give talks that boldly illuminate the nature and scale of current-day climate science, policy and ethics. They explore the economics and psychology of individual and collective action 壽� or inaction 壽� on climate change in order to assess the costs of our choices and opportunities for change. Relevant areas of interest, study and coursework include: ecology, atmospheric science, oceanography, glaciology, energy development, environmental policy, science in the media, political science, ethics, sociology, behavioral psychology and cultural studies.

Species extinction is happening at an alarming rate according to scientists. In this lesson, students are asked to consider why extinction is a problem that we should concern us. They are taught that destruction of habitat is the main reason many species are threatened. The lesson explores ways that engineers can help save endangered species.
