Rating
0.0 stars

"These lesson plans relate to Indigenous ways of knowing and being through building relationships to the natural world and understanding the past in order to foster healing and resiliency. Some lessons demonstrate how Indigenous knowledge can support a deeper understanding of the land and the changes that are a result of climate change. Others are focused on remembering ancestors, understanding treaties and exploring culture through traditional land-based practices (such as hunting, gathering medicines, weaving, drumming, shelter building, tree tapping, etc.)."

JCSH Positive Mental Health Toolkit
Rating
0.0 stars

This toolkit has been designed to promote positive mental health practices and perspectives within the school environment. The toolkit was developed for the Pan- Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health by Dr. Patricia Peterson and Dr. Bill Morrison of the University of New Brunswick. The JCSH wishes to acknowledge the many professionals from each Canadian province and territory who provided assistance by participating as key informants and reviewers.
In the second edition of the Positive Mental Health Toolkit, the resource has been divided into a series of online modules, presenting information and materials that are manageable and user friendly. It is not necessary that you implement all modules of the PMH Toolkit or that you complete them in the sequence they are presented. We encourage you to take the time to explore each module and its written and video components. The toolkit has been updated to reflect recent Canadian research, and to identify promising practices occurring in diverse contexts across the country. In addition, the PMH Toolkit provides a means of measuring positive mental health practices, with results generating a series of individualized strategies for enhancing healthy school environments for students, educators and staff members. These assessment measures can be used in conjunction with the JCSH Healthy School Planner as a means of evaluating overall school environments.

Kid Scoop - Fun Learning Activities & News With Kids
Rating
0.0 stars

Kids Scoop is News magazine that features standards-aligned activity packs for kids K-5.

Kid Scoop News magazine is available as a free PDF or print newspaper delivered to classrooms. This magazine can be shared with students to read at home or in the classroom. After students have read through the magazine, teachers might have them share out to the class something they learned or had a question about. This could kick off a discussion and might even lead to further research into some of the more interesting topics.

Beyond the magazine, teachers will find dozens of downloadable activities and lesson plans -- some free, some paid -- to slot into lessons. Many of these would work well as ways to kick off or cool down a class period. The resources for home-school connections offer helpful tips for communicating with parents about ways kids can use and benefit from Kid Scoop News at home.

The "Kids" section includes the following topics: Answers, How to Draw, Just Plain Weird, Puzzles, Scrub Squad, Write On

The "Teachers" section includes: Next on Kid Scoop, WWC Topics, Teacher Guide, Teacher Scoop, Standards, STEM News

The "Parents" section includes: Crafts, Recipes, Try This At Home
