Use these questions to interview an adult about 21st century skills and teach your students about the value of these skills in life.

In today's world, 21st century skills are crucial for our learners as they provide the foundation for success in a rapidly evolving society. These skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and digital literacy, equip children with the abilities to navigate complex challenges, adapt to change, and thrive in a globalized world. By nurturing these skills, we empower our learners to become agile, innovative, and socially responsible individuals who can actively contribute to the progress and well-being of our society.This resource has a 21st Century Skills poster, a big view 21st Century Skills Scope and Sequence document for grades 1-12, and a more focused view 21st Century Skills Scope and Sequence document for each of the following grade groupings 1-2, 3-6, 7-9, 10-12. This resource also has  Digital Literacy Scope and Sequence documents for each of the following grade groupings 1-2, 3-6, 7-9, 10-12 (linked in each of the previous documents).

Students can self-assess their 21st century skills using the division rubrics. You may wish to have them write a short reflection in the box they evaluate themsevles in (supported, with some support, with limited support or independent), or they can simply mark where they feel they are as another option.At the bottom there is room for students to reflect on their greatest area of strength, and explain why. There is also an area for the student to indentify an area of growth and state how they can imporve. The documents are attached below in MSWord (feel free to edit to fit your needs) and PDF verisions. Teachers may include these reflections with student reports or conferences if they they choose to.

This year my professional Development SMART Goal was to use cross-curricular instruction strategies in the classroom when pertaining to English Language Arts activities. Consequently, I have merged the Grade ¾ Social Studies Curricular outcomes with the ELA curricular outcomes. This is a Unit plan that I have created to teach the students about the province of Saskatchewan. Some highlights include the following; 1. Using graffiti Charts as a pre-assessor. 2. Discovering research techniques about their own formulated questions. Utilizing ABC Brainstorm 3. Making a Destination Road Map and Puzzle of Saskatchewan 4. Reading Saskatchewan based Literature and creating Pop-up books 5. Creating Mind-Maps of Saskatchewan topics of Study 6. Designing a Life-size Plastecine 3-D Collaborative Saskatchewan Map Game with their own question based upon the mind-map 7. Presenting their Game and own Social Studies examination.

Challenges include: balloon tower, index card tower and paper chair challenge!
I suggest discussing which 21st century skills will be needed to do each activity before students do it, and then use them to reflect after the challenges. In the past when this was done, I used SECRET skills to do this.

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work as your own. It can include copying and pasting text from a website into a project that you're working on, or taking an idea from a book without including a citation to give credit to the book's author. Plagiarism is very common, and the internet has made it even more common. However, if you are careful to cite your sources, it's not too hard to avoid plagiarism.

Why are good organizational skills necessary in everything?

* They allow you to work efficiently and effectively at any task you undertake.

* They reduce stress that can hinder your achievement

* They buy you time and energy to reach your true potential

* They allow your true talents and abilities to shine through by preventing chaos and disorder

These books would be a wonderful addition to any classroom library or library and would be excellent as read-aloud stories for students, followed by discussion.
