En 2024, le thème pour le Mois de l’histoire des Noirs est «  L’excellence des personnes noires : un patrimoine à célébrer; un avenir à construire ». Ce thème célèbre les riches contributions et réalisations passées et présentes des personnes noires au Canada, tout en aspirant à saisir de nouvelles opportunités pour l’avenir.

Ce thème s’aligne à la 10e année de la Décennie internationale des personnes d’ascendance africaine et distingue les personnes d'ascendance africaine comme groupe dont les droits humains doivent être promus et protégés."

On June 10, 2024, the Sun West School Division Grade-Alike Planning Team hosted a Share Out Day in which they presented their collaborative projects and provided links to all resources explored throughout the year. The teacher recommended resources for Grades 7, 8, and 9 are available in the GAP Hub. This participant handout contains information about each of the learning topics and includes learning outcomes and links to informative websites as recommeded by the guest presenters.

STEM is everywhere—from businesses and organizations to the products that power our daily lives. That’s why it’s important to build the first fully STEM literate generation and encourage STEM career exploration at an early age.

Endeavor is a first-of-its-kind interactive program designed for exploring STEM careers for middle school students. This STEM curriculum for middle school is built to empower learners with the knowledge they'll need to discover their career pathways.

The STEM lesson plans for middle school provided in this course enable learners to engage with interactive content that reinforces key STEM skills while discovering some of the exciting STEM opportunities that await.

Teachers understand that there are many layers of content, outcomes, skills, and experiences that our students require throughout their educational journey to become competent 21st century learners. Teachers have must dos, such as curricular outcomes and assessment, but there are also many additional elements to provide enrichment to learning for students. All of these layers can become overwhelming if only considered from the perspective of teaching these elements in silos. GAP or Grade Alike Planning in Sun West has offered opportunities to teachers to reimagine these elements by infusing them together. The GAP Infusion Poster illustrates a visual of this philosophy where many elements are blended thoughtfully together to meet many learning outcomes, provide many opportunities, and give students' voice and choice in their learning by exploring their interests and learning needs.
