Des sections ou articles d'instruments juridiques sélectionnés liés au thème de la Vérité et de la Réconciliation.
Une activité étudiante qui relie la chronologie des moments marquants des avancées et des revers en matière de droits de l'homme du point de vue canadien.
Vous pouvez bien sûr choisir d'utiliser une ou toutes les activités étudiantes suggérées.

«Inscrivez-vous pour une visite virtuelle de 45 minutes, puis suivez-la avec une unité en classe sur les droits de l'homme et le rôle d'intervenant. L'unité en classe comprend un projet d'investigation.

Visite virtuelle :

Les élèves apprendront à être des intervenants en droits de l'homme en découvrant les histoires de personnes qui ont utilisé leurs forces personnelles pour défendre leurs droits et les droits des autres, créant ainsi un changement.

Les élèves vont :

1. Apprendre à identifier les traits communs à tous les intervenants et comprendre que chacun de nous possède également ces traits de manière unique.

2. Découvrir les expositions et l'architecture inspirante du musée comme s'ils étaient physiquement présents.
Interagir avec un guide du musée et poser des questions pour mieux comprendre comment ils peuvent agir pour un changement positif.

3. Participer à des discussions, à la réflexion critique et à l'évaluation de leur rôle dans la protection de leurs propres droits et des droits des autres.

Unité en classe :

La ressource "Soyez un Intervenant" est une unité d'apprentissage basée sur des projets conçue pour compléter le programme scolaire "Passez à l'action". Cette ressource cible les élèves de l'intermédiaire et encourage l'investigation et l'action sur les questions de droits de l'homme. Les élèves examineront les traits des intervenants en droits de l'homme et suivront leur exemple. À la fin du projet, les élèves auront eu l'occasion d'explorer une question qui les passionne personnellement, de partager leurs connaissances et de guider les autres vers l'action.

Le site web "Passez à l'action" est une expérience numérique conçue pour soutenir l'apprentissage des élèves dans le cadre d'une unité d'apprentissage basée sur des projets axée sur les droits de l'homme. Les élèves qui développent des projets d'intervenants participeront à une enquête personnelle et à une action sur les questions de droits de l'homme qui leur tiennent à cœur. Les élèves apprendront les traits des intervenants en droits de l'homme, seront introduits à la Déclaration universelle des droits de l'homme et examineront leurs forces personnelles. En suivant l'exemple des intervenants dont ils apprennent l'histoire, les élèves seront mis au défi de prendre des mesures tangibles pour devenir eux-mêmes des intervenants en droits de l'homme.

The Power of Plants

This plant-rooted program contains 6 distinct activities. Students will have the chance to exercise their creativity through botanical drawing and creating a classroom herbarium by pressing and preserving plant specimens. They will learn about plant journeys: from farm to table, and seed dispersal. Finally, they will get to know trees, inside and out, from species identification to age rings.

The Power of Plants is a collection of six complete lesson plans that raises awareness about the importance of biodiversity in everyday life.

o Lesson 1: Two classes - Students will explore these different art forms by creating two artworks using the same plant as a reference. Artists’ statements will express the intentions and design decisions inspired by the art form and floral specimen.

o Lesson 2: - One week - Students will collect and preserve plant specimens to create a class herbarium and explore the different uses for a herbarium.

o Lesson 3: Three classes - In this activity, students will explore some mechanisms used by plants to disperse their seeds by creating model fruit and evaluating the relationship between the fruit’s structure and its dispersal ability.

o Lesson 4: Five classes - Students will explore the concept of “food miles”, visit a farm, farmer’s market, or grocery store and write a newspaper article or editorial summarizing their findings.

o Lesson 5: Four classes - Students will examine the leaves, identify the species, make bark rubbings, measure girth, calculate age, and approximate the height of a single tree. Tree profiles are then collected to create a class encyclopedia.

o Lesson 6: One class - In this activity, students will examine tree rings and discover the secrets preserved within its growth rings.

STARS Ambulance - Mobile Education Program

This mobile training program provides specialized critical care skill training to STARS crews and other emergency care providers. The first mobile program of its kind in North America, it features a human patient simulator which replicates complex medical and traumatic problems over and over again. It offers medical personnel the opportunity to test and practice their reactions and skills, leading to a high degree of familiarity and confidence.

The mannequin: speaks and breathes, blinks and has reactive pupils, has a heartbeat and a pulse
accurately mirrors human responses to such procedures as CPR, intravenous medication, intubation, ventilation and catheterization.

The mannequins have been installed in four motorhomes, creating large mobile emergency rooms. Additionally, STARS has a wireless mannequin that can be transported in a specially-modified SUV. This mannequin can be used in a variety of environments including hospital emergency rooms, classrooms, and mock accidents scenes.
